GYN Care

A GYN exam is a way to take good care of your sexual health. Health Quarters’ all female clinical staff is expert at making this visit convenient and comfortable. When having your first exam at Health Quarters, you fill out paperwork on your health history and then meet with a counselor or nurse who goes over your history and takes your blood pressure and weight. A nurse practitioner or midwife will perform your exam, which may include:

  • Heart, lungs, abdomen, thryroid check
  • Breast exam
  • Pelvic (internal vaginal) exam
  • Pap smear (depending on age and risk factors)
  • STD testing (offered to most patients)

This first appointment can take from an hour to an hour and a half (including paperwork). We make sure that you leave your appointment with all the supplies (birth control and/or medications), information, referrals and future appointments you need.

In addition to a pelvic exam, we can do routine tests during your GYN exam such as cholesterol checks and other blood tests. You may request these from the clinician.

We can also conduct a less comprehensive exam if you simply want to obtain a prescription for birth control. Ask about this option when making an appointment.
